BORIVL-MUMBAI, JULY 01, 2013: Instructors from the Centre College of Drama United Kingdom conducted a leadership camp for the students of Don Bosco, Borivli and Dominic Savio, Andheri from June 10 to 12 and from June 17 to 21. It was held at the Don Bosco High School and was coordinated by the Adhyayan Group.
Over the period of eight days, the students learnt about the different traits and skills required to be a successful leader. A combination of discussions, activities and games blended beautifully to form a very enlightening camp. Team building, trust, planning, coordination, foresight and discussion skills were the points that were emphasized. This was effectively done through well planned exercises. Even the simplest game however childish, it seemed to have a deep leadership lesson behind it.
An important point on the agenda of the camp was the significance of a Student Council. The perception of a Student Council radically changed from captains going about their duties minding classes to representatives of students powerful enough to bring about a change! It was quite nice to find out about the western idea of a Student Council and how it differed from ours. In the end, we were encouraged to form our own idea of a student council and a properly organized council meeting.
One of the highlights of the camp was when the students gave a presentation about the problems they face in the school to the Principal and it also offered viable solutions!
To conclude, this was a very insightful camp and the participants are sure to remember it for life: Making leaders of tomorrow!
