SAVEDI – AHMEDNAGAR, JULY 8, 2013: The installation ceremony of school captains was held on July 6, 2013 at 11.00 am at Don Bosco School and College, Savedi – Ahmednagar, in the presence of Fr. Manuel Murzello – the manager, Fr. Francis Fernandes – the principal and Fr. Cedrick Sankul – the Supervisor and the chief guest Sr. Mangala of Auxilium Convent, Savedi.
School and college began as usual. Soon after the short break, all the students reported in the assembly area to witness the installation ceremony for the new academic year, for which the theme is "Called to Serve." Sr. Mangala accompanied by the management was welcomed with a round of applause. A group of boys and girls welcomed everyone with a welcome song.
The ceremony began by invoking God's presence by the lighting of the lamp and garlanding the statue of Dominic Savio. The captains of the previous academic year handed in their flag, their sash and their badge to Fr. Francis, who expressed his gratitude for their selfless service during the past year. The new captains were then given the flag, the sash and the badge by the chief guest Sr. Mangala who wished them the best for the year to come. The class monitors and vice-monitors were also given their badges by the respective class teachers. Then all the captains stood before the assembly and took the oath.
Fr. Francis congratulated the new leaders and wished them all the best for the academic year. Sr. Mangala then spoke, highlighting the most important quality of a leader - that of service. She narrated few significant incidents from the life of Dominic Savio. The ceremony ended with the vote of thanks proposed by one of the teachers and the singing of the National Anthem.
