WADALA-MUMBAI, JULY 29, 2013: Parents are an image of God, they remind us of God. On 27th July, 2013,the youth of St. Dominic Savio Church Antop Hill came together to thank and honour the parents and grandparents of the parish. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharistic. The lively Youth Choir and well animated mass by the youth created moments to thank and praise God for the gift of parents.
The felicitation programme began after the mass. In his opening speech the parish priest Fr. Vincent Rasquinha thanked the parents for being a gift to their children and encouraged all to be united to make it an empowered and vibrant parish. The programme consisted of Action songs, games, a dance by the Altar servers, song and skit by the youth. Some interesting spot prizes and games kept the parents on their toes. The winners were given attractive prizes. All this brought a lot of laughter and smiles on everyone's face. Singing of Mandos compelled the parents to leave their seats and dance along. It was great to see youth and parents young and not so young enjoying dancing together. All those present for the event were given mementos of Sts. Joaquim and Anne.
The function concluded with a sumptuous dinner prepared by the youth themselves. But this was not the real end of the program. The celebration continued even on Sunday 28th July, 2013 when the youth of the parish went around the community wishing all the parents and grandparents who were were unable to attend the program due to ill health.
Parent's day preparations began almost a month ago and the youth had put in a lot of hard work to make this day a memorable one for parents. All present for the program thanked the youth for this memorable evening.
May God bless the parish and always keep it united in love.
