WADALA-MUMBAI, OCTOBER 11, 2013: In order to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the Shelter Don Bosco, organized a Peace Rally to spread the message of Love, Peace and Hope. The objective of the program was to create an atmosphere of peace and unity. There were around three hundred children from various NGO's who participated in the rally. Some of the shelter boys were dressed up as various national leaders and people representing various faiths.
MS. Nayna Sheith, the Corporator and Municipal Councillor from Congress was the chief guest for this program. The program began with a short clipping on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The theme of peace was highlighted during the short program before the rally began. The Chief Guest in her speech laid strong emphasis on peace and harmony. She also expressed her hearty gratitude to shelter for organizing such a program.
The rally began from shelter Don Bosco after the chief guest had handed over the flag to one of the boys who had dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi. It was indeed great to see the three hundred children along with few adults walking silently on the streets of Mumbai with banners and pluck cards. It was a touching scene to see the Volunteers and some of the shelter boys giving White flowers to the on lookers. The rally started at Shelter Don Bosco passing King Circle, Matunga Flower Market, Ruia College, Five Garden, Wadala Circle, St. Joseph's School and finally ending at Shelter Don Bosco with the national anthem.
At the end of the program Fr. Jesu Robinson presented the vote of thanks to all the participants as well as the organizers who made this rally possible.
