NERUL-MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 22, 2014: A Value Education programme for class III-B was held on 16th September, 2014 in Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul. The topic for the programme was 'DON BOSCO – A MAN OF SERVICE'. The teacher-in-charge of the programme was Tr. Keya Basu. The objective of this programme was to make the students aware about Don Bosco's service to mankind. He is remembered as a man who dedicated his life to the service of abandoned young people.
The programme began with the school prayer, followed by School Anthem. Later, a play 'AN AFTERNOON AT THE SHOEMAKER'S, based on an incident from the life of Don Bosco, was enacted to show how he took a step forward to help under priviledged children. The play was followed by few of Don Bosco's Quotes and then an Inspirational song 'This Day' that included a short act on Don Bosco's Services for the young people who had been abandoned and lived in hopelessness.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks, given by Class Tr. Keya Basu followed by the Noon Talk given by Tr.Poonam, who emphasized on how we can help poor children who are a prey to child labour. In the end, Father Principal gave a few instructions to the students. Overall, the programme was successful in creating awareness about Don Bosco's hard work and dedication. The teacher intended to project the message that the underprivileged children shouldn't be ostracized but honed and nurtured lovingly. People should help and support them in every way possible, as they too are the future of our country.
