by BIS Correspondent

NAVI MUMBAI, OCT 22, 2015: Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, organised a seminar on 'Water Shed Harvesting' from October 13-15, for students of classes six to ten.

The seminar was conducted by Brother Alex Gonsalves sdb. He introduced the topic of 'Water Management' by showing a documentary titled 'Dongargan – A Story of Survival,' a true story about a village in Ahmedabad in Central Maharashtra.

Five years ago, it was just an arid patch of land, of no use to its inhabitants. Brother Gonsalves along with his team changed that through afforestation and by building contour bunds, nala bunds, farm bunds; with the  optimum utilisation of minimal resources.

Dongargan now is a village with lush green fields and abundant livestock. The inhabitants especially women have become aware of their rights.

At the end of the seminar, students learnt the value of even a drop of water.
