MUMBAI, SEP 10, 2016: St. Joseph's Industrial Training Institute (SJITI) at the Don Bosco Centre for Learning (DBCL), Kurla had a special visitor from the Government of India, Rajiv Pratap Singh Rudy, Minister for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent charge) on September 9.
Rudy was welcomed by the Provincial of Mumbai, Father Godfrey D'Souza and Amarr Prabhu, Principal of SJITI, with a bouquet of flowers.
The students of SJITI escorted the Minister with the traditional lezim to the institute. Rudy went around the various workshops, interacted with the staff and students. He expressed his joy on seeing the fervour and dedication of the boys at work.
After the workshop visit, the Minister proceeded with the Directors and Principals of the various institutes of DBCL, for a Presentation on the works of SJITI and the other institutes.
Rudy then addressed the students. He reiterated the Skill India mission of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
With a vision to encourage the growth of ITI and a mission to facilitate further studies of ITI students, the Government of India has introduced a policy, wherein the students after completing two National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) subjects, can obtain their SSC and HSC certification, if they are class eight or class 10 passed, respectively.
He gave the students a mission to learn English or some Foreign Language by which we can flood the world with skilled labor.
