MUMBAI, JULY 17, 2017: Kurla-based St Joseph's Industrial Training Institute (SJITI), by joining forces with Tata Hitachi, has become the first institution in India that will offer a Dealer Service Induction Training programme after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the institute and Tata Hitachi on July 15, a day fittingly marked to celebrate World Youth Skills Day.
Director of Don Bosco Centre for Learning (DBCL), Father Colbert da Silva and the Principal of St Joseph's ITI, Amarr Prabhu welcomed Ram Iyer, head customer services of Tata Hitachi and his team. Iyer and Father da Silva later inaugurated the Tata Hitachi Centre of Excellence by unveiling a plaque in the presence of the other dignitaries.
Tata Hitachi, a leader in the field of manufacturing and trading of earth moving and road equipment, is the 14th industry partner to have joined forces with St. Joseph's ITI. The programme will run for 65 days per batch of 20 auto tech trainees. The institute's instructors will be trained by the company. Phase one would be basic training at SJITI. The curriculum has been designed for cut sections of all machinery to be installed on the premises. Phase two would be 20 days on-the-job training (OJT) at the Tata Hitachi training facility in Dharwad, Karnataka. Candidates would be exposed to service maintenance of earth mover vehicles.
Father da Silva thanked the Tata Hitachi team for selecting St. Joseph's as the first institution in the country to conduct this important skill training. He assured the visitors that the students would excel and measure up to the company's standards.
Iyer then spelt out the dreams and expectations of his company. He assured all the help and support that the institute may need. He later replied to questions posed by students, urging them to keep upgrading themselves and to work hard. He also shared some of his mantras which have made him successful.
Raghavendra Kulkarni, head of the training academy briefed the audience about the programme. He made the trainees aware of their career progression as well as the various training initiatives and opportunities available with Tata Hitachi. There would be joint certification and placements were assured for successful candidates.
