BIS #5174 IT'S RAINING AWARDS AT DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL, MATUNGA

MUMBAI, JULY 31, 2017: Matunga-based Don Bosco High School has for well over a decade been the bench-mark for other schools to follow in areas of sporting and academic excellence. The hard work and dedication, by the management, staff and students, has not gone unnoticed as the institution has been recognised for it's contribution to society.  

The Lions Club of Sion conferred the institution with the H T Mehta Rotating Trophy for the Best School in Sion, Matunga, and Dadar area securing the best aggregate results in the SSC examinations 2017. H R Shukla was awarded the Best Teacher's Award for his contribution in the field of education. "I feel proud receiving this award as a teacher of Don Bosco High School, Matunga," Shukla said.

In the sporting arena, the school secured the Jesal Niranjan Ganjawalla Trophy for the Best All-Round Boys School in Sports for a record 15th time, since its inception in the academic year 1998-99 by the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA). The school also won the Owen Ferreira Overall Football Championship 2016-17 for topping the Mumbai schools chart at the MSSA Football Championship.
 
"When you do something with dedication and pride in life you never want to give it up. For us at Don Bosco, Matunga, it is our sports, which is why we are in the 15th year as Champions and still moving ahead," Leslie Machado, the head coach, said. Barrington Serrao, the sports co-ordinator, added, "Our success is dependent on drive and persistence. The extra energy for us to make an effect or try another approach is the secret of our winning."

The students proved their spirit of generosity by contributing Rs 554165 towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF). Over the last couple of years, Don Bosco High School, Matunga, was the highest contributor towards AFFDF in Mumbai city and was picked up for special mention at the felicitation ceremony by the AFFD Committee Mumbai City. 

Father Bernard Fernandes, the principal of the school congratulated the entire Matunga team, saying, "These noteworthy awards reinforce our belief in a common vision, all round education and team work."
