REACHING OUT TO THE ARMED FORCES

MUMBAI, FEB 27, 2018: The students of Don Bosco High School and Junior College, Borivli have always shown a keen interest in reaching out and doing their part, whenever the opportunity presents itself. For two consecutive years, the institution has been among the top five schools in Mumbai, in contributing towards the Flag Day celebration of the Indian Armed Forces.
To acknowledge the contribution of the institution, the school was invited to be part of a felicitation ceremony on February 23. Father William Falcao, the Rector, attended the ceremony on behalf of the management and received a token of appreciation from the Minister for Education, Vinod Tawde.
Every year as part of the Armed Forces Flag Day celebration, the Education Department encourages students from all schools to take part in a collection drive, to assist them in generating funds, which are utilised for the welfare of the families of soldiers, who have either retired or lost their lives in the service of the nation.
The students are first briefed by their teachers on how this activity can help them do their part to reach out to the soldiers and express their gratitude to them, for what they do for them every day. The children on their part come forward to collect and generate funds.
Don Bosco always hoped to make his boys good and honest citizens. It is wonderful to see the students going out of their way year after year, to reach out to the soldiers who sacrifice their lives in the service of their nation.
