MUMBAI, OCT 7, 2018: Over 500 children including youth from Bosco Boys Home in Borivli, participated in the annual national arts talent festival ‘Nakshatra’ organised by the NGO Bhumi, for children from 12 different orphanages around Mumbai on October 7.
‘Bhumi’ was founded in 2006, and is one of India’s largest independent youth volunteer non-profit organisations. It provides you
th with a platform to serve the society and bridges the gap between the educated and the uneducated. They conduct a number of educational activities especially for underprivileged children to improve their self-confidence and to contribute to their holistic development through extra-curricular activities.
The 2018 edition had an array of competitive activities to ensure that children of all age groups participated and gained immensely from competing against their peers. The different competitions included flower arrangement, pot painting, clay modeling, elocution, dance, song, storytelling, speak your mind, poster making and skits. The event was also peppered with entertainment, games, and workshops to keep the children busy even while they were not competing.
“We aim to provide a platform for the children to ‘Dream’, exhibit their talents, get competitive exposure, ‘Discover’ their potential, ‘Dazzle’ in an atmosphere of healthy competition and enrich themselves with much-needed perspective about their inherent potential. I am happy that the boys of Bosco Boys Home were able to do this and as part of Bhumi, I feel very happy and proud to see the joy and happiness it brought in the faces of these boys,” Tejaswini Pillai from Bhumi, said.
“Thank you, Bhumi for this wonderful event where I was able to make so many new friends. I enjoyed myself and would definitely come again next time and bring with me some more friends,” Abbu Munugum from Bosco Boys Home, winner of the spell-bee competition, said.
