BIS #5688 EDUCATION TO LOVE

by Rosy Stephen

LONAVLA, NOV 2, 2018: With social media wrestling with the minds of impressionable youth, coxing them into making decisions, be it professional or personal, there’s a need – more than ever before – to guide the youth into making educated decisions about their future.

The management of Don Bosco High School and Junior College, Lonavla organised a special programme entitled ‘Education to Love’ for 120 students of standard 12 to help inform them about the very concept of love.

Father Stephen Fernandes and Unita Doulton were the resource persons for the programme that tackled issues like sex, sex reserved for marriage, human sexuality including emotional relations and responsibilities, the age of consent and reproductive rights. The issues it is hoped would build a strong foundation for lifelong sexual health and would help the youth assume responsibility for their own behaviour and to respect the rights of others.

As the sessions got more interactive, students got more involved through purposeful debates and question-answer sessions. The students used the programme to clarify their doubts without any inhibitions.
