NASHIK, JULY 31, 2008: The ‘Dissemination of GC 26’ was held at Divyadaan on July 29. Present for the occasion were the Salesians from Divyadaan, Salesian Training Institute and Don Bosco Bhavan. While Fr. Ivo Coelho presented the Chapter deliberations, Fr. Michael Fernandes, Provincial, gave his observations and comments. It was indeed a creative presentation of pictures and text slides through which Fr. Ivo presented t
he Five Themes of the Chapter: Starting Afresh from Don Bosco, Evangelization, Vocations, Evangelical Poverty and New Frontiers. The identity of a Salesian and the renewal of our youth ministry which should be founded on our passion for God and the young formed the first part. Being evangelizers through our living witness and our proclamation of the Kingdom contributed to the second part. Concerning vocations, it was observed that a lot needs to be done regarding the accompaniment of those in formation. Poverty was seen in three dimensions, namely, the ascetical aspect, the solidarity aspect and the educative aspect. Fr. Ivo also pointed out that GC 26 calls on the Salesians to read, write and reflect. This presentation of the Chapter documents definitely helped enthuse us towards a greater Salesian commitment.
