ANDHERI, AUGUST 2, 2008: A leadership camp for the Dominic Savio Andheri Alumni Unit was held at St. Xavier's, Khandala on July 26-27 and was attended by 16 members. The animator was Fr. Wyman Gonsalves. In the first session Fr. Wyman started with the exercise of ‘Human Bingo’ which got the members interacting with one another and also enabled them gain an insight into their positive qualities. In the second session the qualities of a leader were discussed while in the third session the theme of decision making was taken up for reflection. In the post lunch session Fr. Wyman explained how we create ‘boxes’ around ourselves and how, in order to grow, we need to come out of these ‘boxes’. The highlight of the day was the session on conflict management in which different strategies for resolving conflicts were examined. The evening concluded with a questionnaire entitled ‘This Is Me’, wherein each individual was invited to make a self reflection and evaluation.
Later in the evening, the participants visited the Pauna Dam and enjoyed bathing under the picturesque waterfall. After returning from the dam, the members shared some lighter moments, having a sing song and dance session, followed by dinner.
The second day began with the Eucharistic celebration followed by the concluding session which was aimed at helping the participants discover their positive qualities. Before leaving Lonavla, we paid a visit to Don Bosco and were given a warm welcome by the Salesians there. The alumni returned to Bombay feeling reinvigorated by this camp.
