BIS #1310 - TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR COMMUNITY ANIMATORS

Dona Prabhune VIRAR, MARCH 7, 2009: Resurrection Parish, Virar, held a training programme on March 1, 2009 at for its Community Coordinators and Animators. The first session, based on the Parable of the Talents, was aimed at bringing about the awareness that we are all accountable for the talents God has given us. It also focused on the potential each of us is blessed with. The session was a very interactive session and was highly appreciated by the participants. The animators will now conduct a similar session in their respective communities and clusters. Based on the feedback received at previous Parish Council meetings, it was felt that a session on how to handle ‘Rejection’ as well as ‘Approachability’ was the need of the hour. Interpersonal Skills are of immense value to the animators when they have to deal with people in the parish. Accordingly, the next session dealt with these topics. The participants were happy with this session too and felt that they were now better equipped to interact with different kinds of people. The final session on ‘Wreckers’ dealt with the critical question: Are we builders or wreckers of our communities? During this session, our Parish Priest Fr. Blany Pinto gave a brief talk on: "What is a SCC?" He expressed his great pleasure at the fact that our Parish has become very vibrant. Fr. Edwin Colaco gave the participants CDs and other material that they can use to conduct sessions in their respective clusters. The training programme ended with a feedback session. The participants said that they found the entire programme very enriching and relevant to their animation ministry in the parish.
