BIS #1477 HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT AT DON BOSCO KURLA

MUMBAI, AUGUST 8, 2009: Don Bosco Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (DBIHMCT) located on Premier Road at Kurla-Vidyavihar launched the University of Mumbai and YCMOU degrees for the academic years 2009-2012 on July 25, 2009. Students were invited along with their parents for an orientation on what the Hospitality degrees had to offer in terms of a career. The management of the institution was effectively ensuring that parents continue to have a stake in the development of their child especially in the context of high investments the course warrants. Their presence in large numbers in the Santino Mondino Hall was indeed a welcome sign.

The orientation commenced with a welcome by the Centre-Head Mr. Lavy A. D’Costa. The rendition of ‘God So Loved the World’ followed. The Director, Fr. Adolph Furtado emphasized on students the need for enhancing values and assured parents and students alike that the institution would go much beyond the syllabus to ensure the overall growth of students.

Mr. Zubin D’Souza a Corporate Chef of high repute offered a delectable recipe to parents and students in terms of the ingredients one needs to possess, if one has to effectively lay claim to being designated as Chef/Baker, or even if one has to specialize in the fields of F&B, Housekeeping and Front Office.

Fr. Mario Vaz, the former Director who visualized the concept of these intensive degrees on Hospitality for the institution complimented parents on entrusting their wards in the safe hands of the Salesian community.

Mr. D’Costa introduced Fr. Edward D’Souza - Administrator and the Faculty to the more than 250 plus gathering. The Faculty, he said though young were empowered with knowledge and skills that would make the dreams of parents and students a reality.

The Orientation justifiably ended on the note of the famous ABBA song ‘I HAVE A DREAM’ sung with gusto by the participative audience.
