LONAVLA, AUGUST 11, 2009: Twenty- four years ago they joined Don Bosco as Day Scholars in STD VIII. Their educational journey began seven years earlier at Auxilium Convent. On Sun, August 10, they decided to march down memory lane once again. Together with their wives and children they first went over to the Auxilium Convent. To their big surprise their former Headmistress and some of their teachers were still around. Old yet young and enthusiastic at heart, they sat in their old classroom… very emotional at the thousands of happy memories of days gone by. They stepped into their old chapel with a prayer of gratitude. They sat under the shady trees recalling memories of the teachers they fooled, the classes they escaped, the exams they failed, the trophies they won, the friends they made…. Could the memories stop? No, they kept coming back like a mighty flood!!! These happy memories had to be captured now for time memorial. Cameras were flashing every second…. The little children were wonderstruck. “Why is daddy so happy and different today?” they asked one another.
Lunch at the Tulsi Sadhana Kutir was another happy moment to share the fellowship.
The next stop… Don Bosco Lonavala. The surroundings no doubt had changed. New bungalows dotted the road. Emotions once again took control. Warm embraces, familiar faces, happy smiles and the family atmosphere brought tears of joy on many a face. Bro. P. M. Thomas their Principal and Geometry teacher was still around. A quick walk to Maria Ashiana and a gathering with Fr. Barnabe and the youngsters challenged one and all to make life more meaningful and in service of the other.
The Past Pupils under the leadership of Dr. Swapnil Karnik and Mr. Ajit Chauhan planned the day months in advance. As a token of appreciation they handed a Plaque to each community. Fr. Thomas, Rector received the token of appreciation and invited the past pupils to always be proud of being a Boscoite at heart.
