Finally the cash prize of the Inter-Parish Football Tournament was won by St. Anne’s Parish boys and Throw ball was won by of Don Bosco Parish girls. The runners up for both the finals were the youth of Holy Cross Church. Fr. Nelson, Parish Priest of Don Bosco, gave away the prizes and thanked everyone who was involved in the organization of a memorable event of this kind. It was truly a ‘salesian event’ in the sense that the Salesians, fathers and brothers, shared the day together on the playground with the youngsters of the Nashik diocese.
NASHIK, NOVEMBER 4, 2009: The Inter-Parish Football and Throw ball Tournament 2009-2010, between the parishes where the Salesians of Nashik go for their Sunday Ministry was organized on November 1, 2009 in Divyadaan under the leadership of the youngsters of Don Bosco Parish. The tournament was set in a right motion by Fr. Savio D’souza, the Rector of Divyadaan, by invoking God’s blessing. Five parishes i.e. St. Anne’s, Dominic Savio, Don Bosco, Holy Cross and St. Patrick’s took part in the tournament. It was a great joy to see so many youngsters taking part in the event with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The tournament began at 10:30 a.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m. During the lunch break there was a friendly match between the Fathers (married lay people) and the Fathers (Religious). The match was both entertaining and thrilling as the spectators blew their lungs out in support of their teams. While the team of the ‘Religious Fathers and brothers’ won the match 2-0, it was the team of the “Lay Fathers” that won the hearts of people through their wholehearted participation in spite of their advanced age. It wouldn’t be exaggerating to say that the entire day was filled with excitement for everyone.
