BIS #1611 REACHING NEW HORIZONS

MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 5, 2009: "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships." This saying was proved right by the U-17 Handball team of St. Joseph's High school, Wadala as they won the District Division on November 4, 2009 at the Naigaon Police ground.

The Journey to achieving this goal was not smooth but the young Josephites adhered to their vision of making it possible to represent Mumbai City. This they achieved by defeating Don Bosco, Matunga 6-4 in the finals of the Mumbai City Handball Tournament.

Victory set in early for the Josephites, as they defeated Kalyan District by a 7-1 that followed with a 7-4 victory over Thane in the semi finals. The determined Josephites went on to play their finals against Jamnabai Narsee School. The match was evenly contested with a neck to neck score line at every moment of the game which ended in a four all draw. In the penalty shootout that followed St. Joseph's won by a 4-3 margin.

Coaches Rajshekar Reddy and Avinash Gracious put in their best efforts to guide this vibrant team into qualifying at the state level after four years in an emphatic manner.

The young energetic handball team of St. Joseph's will now represent Mumbai in the U-17 state level Tournament which will be in Jalgaon from November 7-9, 2009.
