BORIVLI, NOVEMBER 16, 2009: The much awaited day of the year for both Children and Teachers arrived on Friday, November 13, 2009....when the boys had their Children’s Day Celebrations at Don Bosco, Borivli. The icing on the cake was the Provincial coming to celebrate the Day with the students and teachers.
The day started with a warm welcome to the Provincial Fr. Michael Fernandes. And his welcome was just like the day - totally Dhamakedaar! The credit goes to the School Band! Like every other Provincial visit, this visit started with a brief introduction about the Provincial by the School Captain Royston D'Costa. He mentioned many interesting details about Fr. Michael’s achievements, his childhood, his works and his role in guiding the Salesians.
The entertainment programme for the day was inaugurated by the Backstage Boyz. All were thoroughly entertained by some electrifying performances by the Electric Band who regaled the students with lilting tunes and kept the audience tapping to their brand of music.
The Provincial gave us some words of wisdom laced with humour and promised that he would visit the school again. Then came the fun and games which were organised by Superkidz, an Event Management Company associated with Children’s Education and Entertainment. Students right from STD 5- 10 were invited on stage for some fun games, talent show, tug of war, munching biscuits blindfolded, extempore speaking and other such games wherein lots of prizes were awarded to the winners in respective category. It was great to see the students who performed on the stage extempore with very little preparation and they were cheered on by a lively and enthusiastic audience comprising of students who also got a chance to decide some winners based on audience reaction.. This was also a great confidence building exercise and taught the student participants to be alert and make use of the available resources on hand especially as they learnt to wrap themselves in News papers innovatively in just one and half minute.
Everyone had fun in the right spirit and the much awaited day for all was a huge, dhamakedaar Success. A big thank you to Superkidz, Fr. George Carlos, Ms. Charu, Ms. Sarita and all the teachers for this wonderful children’s day programme.
