BIS #1664 DON BOSCO VISITS US

VIRAR, DECEMBER 3, 2009: Parishioners of the Resurrection parish, Virar were privileged to welcome Fr. Michael Fernandes, the Provincial of the Mumbai Salesian Province on Sunday, November 29, 2009.

Fr. Michael first met the members for the parish Council and was given a brief update on the various parish associations and their functioning. Fr. Michael then celebrated the Eucharist at 6.00 pm, which was concelebrated by Fr. Blany Pinto and Fr. Edwin Colaco. In his homily, Fr. Michael emphasized the message of the gospel - to be watchful and pray, for advent a period of spiritual preparation for the second coming of our Lord. We need to be vigilant and reach out in service to the needy. Family – prayer will provide us the much needed sustenance in our efforts.

A parishioner in his address to the provincial highlighted the many virtues of Fr. Michael, an unassuming and down-to-earth person. Fr. Michael expressed his gratitude to the people, for the love and support they extend to the parish team. He appreciated the dedication of the parish team to the apostolate which has resulted in the vibrancy of the parish.

Dear Fr. Michael, we pray, that as each new day unfolds, you may find yourself renewed physically and spiritually to faithfully perform your apostolic tasks. God bless you.
