VIRAR, DECEMBER 8, 2009: December 6, 2009 will be a memorable day in the lives of 20 children who received the sacrament of Holy Communion at the 8.30 a.m. Eucharist.
The church was most tastefully decorated with pastel hues of seasonal flavors. The words “Jesus the bread of Life” were prominently displayed on a beautiful backdrop.
The Eucharist was celebrated by our Fr. Blany Pinto and in his homily he accentuated the role of the parents besides the church and the catechism teachers in laying the foundation for the spiritual growth of a child. Through 3 anecdotes, he drove home the message that Jesus is the Bread of Life that will sustain us in our daily lives. He laid the accent on daily family rosary and bible reading which forms the hearts and minds of children.
The solemnity of the entire liturgy was further enhanced by the melodious singing of our children’s choir. The highlight of the day was a riveting rendition of a Hindi action song by the First Holy Communicants at the post communion. Fr. Blany expressed his gratitude to all the catechism teachers, but in a special way to the First Holy Communion teachers who prepared the children for the sacrament.
