BIS #1701 ONE MAN, ONE DREAM...DISTANT LANDS

MUMBAI, DECEMBER 29, 2009: The annual sports festival of the Pri-primary, Primary and the secondary section of St. Josephs High School, Wadala was held in December 2009 at the school grounds. The Theme - ONE MAN - ONE DREAM - DISTANT LANDS was selected as the Salesians completed 150 years of their presence around the world.

The programme started with the inaugural ceremony, March past and the unfurling of the School Sports Flag. All the classes put forth creative and colourful displays based on the Salesian logo and their work in the different parts of the world in the form of floats. The students displayed their spirit of sportsmanship by participating in different athletic events and games. The highlight of the sports festival was a Football match between the students and the staff .The student team emerged victorious in the tie breaker.

The Closing Ceremony was a combination of grace, rhythm, tempo and energy that was displayed in the form of Mass-drill, Yoga, Gymnastics and Lezim.

The Prizes for the various events and the Championship Awards were presented to the outstanding sportsmen of St. Joseph's. Master Reuben Kalpund and Master Naresh Bohara were the Midgets Champion and Sub- Juniors Champion respectively. Master Tej Bohara was the U/12 Junior champion; Master Rishab Dongerkery was the U/14 intermediate champion while Master Ramdas Allbin was a run away winner in the A/16 Senior Championship. To quote "Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.”

Also to add Ajay Pardeshi of STD VIII was selected to represent the Mumbai City in the National selection demonstrating his artistic and sublime skills in gymnastics on the 19th and 20th December 19- 20, 2009 at Pune Balewadi. The school is indeed proud of this Gymnastic Gem.
