MUMBAI, JANUARY 28, 2010: A two-day Youth Animators’ Meet was organized by the Groups and Movements Commission on January 23-24, 2010 at Don Bosco Youth Services, Matunga. Twenty Eight Youth Animators from various communities of Gujarat, MP and Maharashtra took part in the meet.

Fr. Provincial welcomed the participants to the meet and challenged the animators to take up the clarion call in ‘returning to Don Bosco’ and to make the Salesian Youth Movement into a vibrant and sustaining force in the Province of Mumbai. Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, Vice-Provincial and in-charge of the youth Pastoral in the Province invited the Youth Animators to look at Youth Ministry as a ‘whole Process’ rather than in ‘isolated events and activities’. “Salesian Youth Spirituality” should be the life line that flows into all our animation with the young.

The Groups and Movements team lead by Fr. Edwin Colaco took the participants through various practical sessions on how to form and build Youth Groups. The second day focused more on the Salesian Youth Spirituality and the formation of the Bosco Youth Groups within the existing groups. The highlight of the meet was the structural plan that evolved and the enthusiasm with which the youth animators responded to make our Groups and Movements in the province more vibrant and purposeful with our Charismatic Salesian Youth Spirituality.

Youth Ministry is coming back to life in the Province and the Salesians are taking their rightful place once again. Who can deny that the “Salesians belong to the Young” and that the Young too “belong to the Salesians”…
