AHMEDNAGER, FEBRUARY 1, 2010: On January 30, 2010 the 256 parishioners of St. Anne’s parish, Ahmednagar assembled to celebrate the feast of Don Bosco with an evening Mass. Fr. Briston Britto celebrated his first Eucharist for the parish and preached the homily. Post Communion 4 office bearers took the pledge to belong to St. Vincent De Paul as members. Fr. Anton D’ Souza, Rector officially welcomed Fr. Briston to live, work and stay in the community at Nagar and build the kingdom of God. The Eucharist ended with the kissing of the Anointed hands of the priest. The traditional ‘satkar’ followed.
On January 31, 2010 during the 8.30 a.m. mass, 25 young teenagers received Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. Into a packed church they entered in procession, all dressed in white accompanied by their parents. The children had been prepared for a year now for this event beginning from this academic year. There was a glow on their faces and a newfound freedom in their hearts in receiving Jesus for the first time. After the Mass, certificates were given and rosaries distributed.
From now on they were to belong to the Altar servers group. The solemnity of the occasion was doubled as the feast of Don Bosco and the First Holy communion marked a new milestone in the history of this parish.
