MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 2, 2010: The Feast of Don Bosco was celebrated by the Don Bosco Youth Services as “Vocation Discernment Day”. Fr. Brian Moras had invited 20 youngsters from the various parishes of Mumbai (Class VII to college/ working boys).
The programme began with ice-breakers. This was followed by a 30- minute clip of the ‘Life of Don Bosco’, following which group discussions were held on what struck the participants the most in the film…Some of the main points which emerged were Don Bosco’s trust in God and Our Lady, Don Bosco’s fighting Spirit, Don Bosco – a man for others and Don Bosco’s great love for poor youth.
Half way through the participants viewed a power point presentation called “The Chosen Vessel” It was well appreciated. Some very enlightening findings stood out during the discussion phase. It was lovely to see the youngsters sharing so much on the presentation.
Fr. Wilfred D’souza, joined the group at this point of time and shared some of his mission experiences in Africa, which inspired the young minds. Fr. Lloyd also shared his vocation story with them which was very touching and meaningful.
Fr. Brian then gave each youngster a beautiful bag containing three of the latest comic books on the life of Don Bosco and a copy of the Don Bosco’s Madonna, exhorting the youngsters to read the books and share it with others. He concluded the session with the distribution of registration forms inviting the youngsters to join the various summer camps coming up. It was a very fruitful morning and the concluding thought was that we need to discern our vocation in life and respond to God’s call in a positive way.
