GUJARAT, JUNE 9, 2010: The Past pupils of Don Bosco schools of Chhota, Kawant and Narukot met for a two day meet of togetherness and sharing under the theme of “Dare to live”. Hundred and ninety past pupils both boys and girls met on the evening of June 5, 2010 which was a time for entertainment put up by the Snehalaya dance troupe and an adivasi dance by the village dance group. On June 6, 2010 after the celebration of the holy Eucharist, the past pupils had a time for reflection shared by a well known speaker Mr. Vijay Parmar of the Jan Vikas Foundation who is also an expert on Tribal and Dalit upliftment and a counselor and advisor in forming NGO’s. Mr. Vijay spoke on the need to be aware of defracting ideologies specially catered to use but disable the tribal youth through violence and media. He also mentioned that as past pupils of Don Bosco they have to use the value system taught by the Salesian system and create a better society among the tribal’s by forming an association under the banner of a Don Bosco Federation.
After this they had many eminent past pupils relating the good old cherished memories of their life with the fathers at Don Bosco’s. Fr. Stanny then guided the past pupils on forming an association with the help of membership cards and how they can provide financial support through their sponsorship.
Sincere thanks to Fr. Elias Diaz who graced the occasion in spite of his ailing health. He rendered his deep hearted support in the formation of the Past Pupils Organization in this part of Gujarat. The meet ended with a sumptuous lunch. Most importantly many of the past pupils registered themselves through membership cards and many generously donated towards the past pupils fund to be used for needy past pupils ensuing higher studies.

This annual feature of the past pupils was not just a time for togetherness but a serious time to get the past pupils to bring about a positive change in their very own society.
