SMITA SALVE
SATPUR, NASHIK, JUNE 17, 2010: St. Anthony, the wonder-worker Saint is remembered annually with great devotion at Satpur. The people of Satpur love and honour him. The devotees gathered in big numbers for ten consecutive days in the Saint’s remembrance and to ask for his miraculous intercession.
The daily devotion consisted of the recitation of the holy rosary and novena prayers in honour of St. Anthony. On the tenth day which was the Feast Day about four hundred people gathered for a solemn Eucharistic Celebration. Four Salesian Priests concelebrated. It was a harmonic mass with the church choir singing liturgical hymns.
The Parish Priest, Fr. Nelson Falcao, in his homily spoke about the life and works of St. Anthony. He explained how St. Anthony as a Teacher and a Preacher effectively communicated the Good News of Jesus Christ and worked many wonders in a short life of just thirty six years. He spoke on his many miraculous powers and wonders he worked. In the place of ‘Bread of St. Anthony’ there followed a fellowship dinner for all. May this miraculous wonder worker intercede for us.
