BIS #1887 SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY PLANNING

Loreen Fernandes
VIRAR, JUNE 28, 2010: The Small Christian Community coordinators of Resurrection Church, Virar (E), met on Sunday June 27, to draw up plans for the pastoral year June 2010 – 2011.

After reciting the prayer, the coordinators and the animators grouped together community wise to share and discuss the strengths and challenges of each community. The strengths of the community ranged from good attendance at SCC meetings, to active participation of children in the gospel sharing. Community members also presented the challenges. The major challenge facing nearly every community was the regular absenteeism by a handful of families from monthly meetings and parish activities. The parish team will shortly be visiting these homes to ensure better participation of the laity.

Each community was given time to discuss and draw up a plan for their respective communities. The activities which were planned were of spiritual, out-reach, formational and cultural in nature.A power point presentation on attitudes provided food for thought in terms of motivational sayings that could help in effective leadership and teamwork.

Keeping in mind the enthusiasm of the animators and the whole-hearted cooperation and commitment of the parish team, the vibrancy of the parish is sure to make waves in the coming year too. Thanks to Fr. Edwin, who laid the foundation
