YERWADA, JULY 7, 2010: July 6, 2010 was a day of dual celebration for the Don Bosco Institution The feast of St. Dominic Savio and to mark this occasion the Investiture ceremony 2010-2011.
The festive day began with solemn celebration with the Catholics at the Eucharist in the church. Fr. Rector Francis Kharjia celebrated the Eucharist while Fr. Principal Donald Fernandez and Fr. Administrator attended the Prayer service in the hall.
The Homily on ‘Death rather than Sin’ was very touching and meaningful. A saint at the age of 14 and his heroic virtue, the Martyrdom and the holy life of Maria Goretti was an inspirational thought for the students. The entrance dance by Jr. College and choir added gist to the holy Eucharist.
After devotion it was time for duty. The Secondary section gathered in the School Hall to attend the Investiture ceremony of the leaders for year 2010-11.
Investiture ceremony for the Primary in the morning and secondary in the afternoon marked an important event as 40 leaders in the Primary and 154 leaders in the Secondary were installed.
In the secondary section Fr. Rector led the School Captain and House Captains to oath and handed the flags and ties. The ceremony was continued by Fr. Principal for the class monitors and was concluded by Fr. Administrator for the house prefects.
Fr. Rector in his words after the leader’s oath asked the leaders to follow the footsteps of St. Dominic Savio.
Fr Principal commended the leaders of the school and asked to take up their duties with responsibility. He reminded the leaders that they were like shepherds and need to look after their flock by leading from the front, side and behind, by setting a good example themselves.
The entire institution received snacks from the management. Children enjoyed the treat. The afternoon class wise games were conducted. There was excitement, fun and frolic. The school concluded an hour early. Thanks to the Management for the snacks.
The investiture ceremony was well organized by Tr. Swati, Sir Suryakant & Tr. Manjusha Tr. Mehtab anchored the program well. The function concluded at 12.30pm with a vote of thanks by Secondary Section Supervisor Tr. Pauline. The students dispersed with a positive thought “Make a point to do something everyday that you don’t want to do. This is the golden rule for acquiring the habit of doing your duty without pain.”
