LONAVALA, JULY 20, 2010: The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel initiated the community of Don Bosco Lonavala into the Marian Month for the year 2010.
The day began with a solemn Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Lorenzo D’souza the principal of Don Bosco Lonavala. In the evening was the long awaited inauguration. The inauguration began with the teams coming in procession singing hymns to Our Blessed Mother and gathering at the main staircase near the entrance.
The Rector Rev. Fr. Cletus D’souza solemnly cut the ribbon and declared the Marian Month for the year 2010 open. He wished the Aspirants and the Apostolic Boys a month of fun and frolic and at the same time getting to know more about our Blessed Mother and loving her as our own mother. He also wished the aspirants of STD XII all the very best as they help the community to come closer to our Blessed Mother through various activities during this month. Felix Almeida one of the aspirants shed some light on the feast of the day and Praveen Minj explained to us the meaning behind the theme chosen.
During the homily he shared that throughout history there has always existed a relationship between God and man. God has always been faithful to humankind but human beings, weak as we are have often gone astray from God and thus weakening our Faith. During such times when all seems to be lost it is Mary who through her apparitions kept alive the hope of Faith. She appeared at Lourdes, Fatima, Knock and many other places just to keep the flag of Faith waiving high; thus the theme ‘Mary the Waving Flag of Faith’.
May this Marian month help us to appreciate the beautiful gift Jesus left us with; His Mother.
