MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 15, 2010: The extraordinary visitation of the “Gujarat Region” – which began in Kapadvanj on September 6, 2010 – concluded in Baroda last evening. Fr Maria Arokiam – the Extraordinary Visitor – will go to Suket (which is also part of the region) in early October.
During the “Tour de Gujarat,” Fr Arokiam met forty-two confreres and several collaborators in ten presences, and travelled over six hundred kilometers – in just nine days! His focus was to meet the confreres and listen to them share their lives and experiences. He also met members of the Salesian Family, the other collaborators, and the children and people with whom the Salesians work in this region; went to villages in Dakor, Narukot and Kawant.
The highlight of the visit was two meetings with the confreres of the region. Fr Arokiam spent an hour and a half with the practical trainees from 1445 hrs on September 13, 2010 at Don Bosco Baroda. He invited the young clerics to share the situation of the practical trainees in the Gujarat region, and to share their perceptions about the Province.
On September 14, 2010, he met the perpetually professed confreres of the region from 1800 to 1945 hrs at Don Bosco Baroda. The meeting was well-attended; confreres from all the communities were present. The confreres discussed the development of Gujarat – the challenges and possibilities; and shared their views about the state of the Mumbai Province and the South-Asia Region.

Fr Arokiam next travels to Nashik on a seven-day visit to the three communities for initial formation.
