BIS #2064 LEADERSHIP TRAINING AT DB, KARJAT

MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 28, 2010: The NSS Unit of Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Kurla and NSS Central Suburb Zone, University of Mumbai jointly organized a five day residential ‘Leadership Training Camp’ at Don Bosco, Karjat for seventy-two NSS volunteers from twenty-nine colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

The objective of this programme was to help participants develop as leaders of the future.

The inaugural programme was graced by the Chief Guest Dr. Pramod Pabrekar, State Liaison Officer - NSS; Prof. Atul Salunke, NSS Programme Coordinator - University of Mumbai; Prof. Anis Chawdhury, NSS District Coordinator - Thane Central Zone and Fr. Xavier, Director - Don Bosco, Karjat. The youthful participants were encouraged to build an effective community of leaders from their target audience of four thousand seven hundred NSS volunteers belonging to the zone.
The programme focused on skills development including the art of communications, report writing, editing and time management. Disaster and safety management, environment consciousness and empowerment of women were topics that received decent coverage. Dr. N. G. Joag, Principal - DBIT animated the group with a session on Motivation.

Fr. Xavier at the concluding function displayed confidence that each of the seventy-two participants were on the threshold of developing into prospective leaders of the community.

The Leadership Training Camp’s success was largely due to the overwhelming support received from Fr. Xavier and his dedicated team at Don Bosco, Karjat.
