Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas sdb
MUMBAI, September 2, 2010: The opening week of the extraordinary visitation has seen an opening conference and official visits to six communities.
Fr Marian Arokiam Kanaga, the Regional Councillor for South Asia and Extraordinary Visitor, began the Extraordinary Visitation of the Province of Mumbai on August 25, 2010.
In his opening conference at 1900 hrs, he said that he comes to see what is beautiful in the province and the creative fidelity of the confreres. Quoting the Rector Majors’ Letter, he said that we need to recapture the prophetic dimension of religious life. Further, we need to (i) bridge the unnatural dichotomy between being authentic disciples and being zealous apostles; (ii) give priority to the care and protection of youngsters, especially minors, entrusted to our care; and (iii) ensure financial accountability and transparency.
Fr Arokiam, now, takes a “break” from the visitation to attend the SPCSA Assembly to be held from September 2-4, 2010, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Mumbai.

Fr Arokiam started visiting the communities on August 26,2010. It has been a grueling schedule so far! St Joseph’s Kurla, Don Bosco Matunga, Don Bosco Borivli, Dominic Savio Andheri, Bosco Boys’ Home Borivli, and Don Bosco Nerul – seven days, six communities! He has focused on meeting the confreres and addressing members of the Salesian Family; and has urged the confreres to seek ways of diversifying our work for the young.
Fr Arokiam, now, takes a “break” from the visitation to attend the SPCSA Assembly to be held from September 2-4, 2010, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Mumbai.
