VIRAR, OCTOBER 6, 2010: The Altar servers of the Resurrection Church, Virar, assembled on Sunday October 3, at 3.00 p. m. for their monthly meeting. They meet every first Sunday of the month for three hours of training to serve at the altar, to learn new hymns and to recreate by playing games. The entire programme is organized by the Std XI students of our parish under the guidance of Fr. Augustine Pereira.
The meeting commenced with an opening prayer, followed by learning of the new hymns. New Altar servers were then trained by youth. Others were provided training to proclaim the Word of God. The forty five odd altar servers enjoyed a round of games, followed by snacks. The session concluded at 5.45 p.m. with a prayer.
The monthly meetings ensure that the Children are trained to be effective proclaimers of the Word of God. These meetings not only serve as an avenue to mould the children spiritually but also provide a platform for the youth to develop their leadership skills
