BIS #2092 MISSION FETE - A NAVARATRI DHAMAKA

NASHIK, OCTOBER 15, 2010: Don Bosco Church, Nashik anticipated the Mission Fete this year because around the Mission Sunday (October 17) and the week following the students of most of the neighbouring schools would be in exams. The Parish Council members and the organizers of the Fete wanted the students of the neighbouring schools to participate and be part of the Mission Fete. And so the anticipation turned out to be a “Mission Fete” which took place on October 10, that is during the Navaratri Days and so the Parishioners called it “Mission Fete – A Navaratri Dhamaka”. Surprisingly, there were a great number of students that visited the Fete, participating in all the games, sports, garage sale, and guess-the-weight. There was the coupon-system. Those who won were given prize coupons and proportionate prizes. Of course, to top it all, there were many food-stalls, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian which were most visited and the tasty dishes and preparations were enjoyed by one and all.

Thanks to the Principals of the neighbouring schools and the students who patronised in large numbers. We thank all these schools: Kilbil School, Nirmala Convent School, Silver Oak school, Fravashi Academy, Don Bosco School. We also thank the neighbouring communities who took active part in the Fete by patronising the various stalls. We thank Salesian Training Institute, Sacred Heart Training Centre, Divya Daan, Ursaline Sisters of Kilbil, Tanmaya and Nirmala Home, Nirmala Convent Sisters, Holy Cross Fathers and the Parishioners and Parishioners from Dominic Savio Satpur.

We thank our Parish Priest, Fr. Nelson Falcao, sdb who has been the back-bone, the leader and the inspirer of this successful event. We thank the Parish Councilors and all the members of the various committees, i.e., Games-Sports Committee, Garage Sale Committee, Ticketing and Coupons Committee, Prize Distribution Committee, Food Committee, Auction Committee, Publicity Committee. This Mission Fete was conducted for a charitable cause and the 75,000/- Rs. that were collected from it would be forwarded to some Mission Work which requires economic help. Last year an amount of Rs. 50,000/- was sent to the Salesian Mission of Rajasthan, Suket, Salawad to open scholarships in the name of Don Bosco Church, Nashik. Fr. Provincial suggested to us this Mission. This year too we will ask him to suggest a name of some Mission which needs help. The great profit has been due to the various donors who donated food and helped economically
