NARUKOT, OCTOBER 18, 2010: The hockey team of Don Bosco Narukot under-14 had an excellent winning performance in the finals of the Gujarat state level rural tournament organized at Deeesa, Banaskanda from October 12 to October 14. Five boys and one girl have been selected to play for the Nationals.

Sixteen teams participated at the state level tournament in which Don Bosco Narukot emerged as champions of the Gujarat. None of the teams managed to score a goal against Don Bosco Narukot except Vadodara rural that too at their luck. The boys were determined to win this tournament. The finals were played against the Vadodara city with a 2-0 win. Master Harpal Solanki and Bhuvan Rathwa scored each for the finals. The girl’s hockey team of Don Bosco Narukot was defeated at the second round against the Rajkot city with a 1-0 loss in the penalty. The coach Sir Naveen was discouraged by this but the performance of boy’s made him to participate in a greater joy. The sticks and shoes were sponsored to the team by a generous benefactor. The boys and the community were very grateful to these generous benefactors. It was commented that in spite of the old style Hockey sticks the boys had an excellent control over the game.
The boys were extremely delighted and so were the coach Sir Sanya, the school staff, the Principal Fr. Jerome and the Rector Fr. Stanny Ferriera. The Salesians of Don Bosco Narukot are giving our backward boys of Rathwas an identity which is superior to all others in Gujarat calling them champions of Gujarat. The regular practice and commitment played a vital role in our excellent performance. The hard practices both in the mornings and evenings bore fruit which truly tasted as sweet as honey
