MATUNGA, OCTOBER 26, 2010: On Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 10.30 am, the Parents of the Salesians met for their Second Anniversary at Don Bosco, Matunga. The day began with Holy Mass being celebrated by Fr. Provincial, Fr. Michael Fernandes joined by celebrants, Fr. Wilfred D'Souza, Rector and main organizer of 'Mama Margaret Association', Fr. Elias Diaz, Provincial Delegate for Salesian family as well as Fr. Cletus D'Souza, Fr. Lloyd Rodrigues, Fr. Brian Moras, Fr. Roy Noronha, and Fr. Ivan Rodrigues. There were over fifty parents. Fr. Michael spoke on Don Rua, the immediate successor of Don Bosco. This year we celebrate the centenary of his death.
A power point presentation on the life of Don Bosco and of the activities of our novices in Nashik was presented after mass. The group then got into a big family circle and introduced themselves. Fr. Provincial shared some interesting information with us.
We were graced by the visit of the Regional Councillor, Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga sdb who expressed his joy to see that this association had taken a head start in Mumbai. He asked us to pray for Mamma Margaret to be canonized soon, while we pray to her for more vocations. He brought us wishes of the Rector Major and would carry our wishes to him in Rome. There followed a game of housie and a party game that gave a chance for the parents to mingle with each other; finally we all enjoyed a sumptuous meal.
Leaflets for Vocation Promotion and a copy of the Salesian Directory were given to the parents. All in all, the parents, both very senior and those much younger, made this day dedicated to Mama Margaret, so meaningful.
