BIS #2207 FIRST SALESIAN ORDAINED IN DON BOSCO SUKET

Paul sdb
SUKET, JANUARY 3, 2011: December 29, 2010 will go down in the history of Salesian Mission in Suket as the day on which the first Salesian, namely, Fr. Edward Simon Sacrawat, was ordained in the Salesian Parish of St. Michael – Mikhelpura, in the diocese of Ajmer (Rajasthan).

Fr. Edward Sacrawat was drawn towards the Salesian way of life after he was introduced to the Salesians in Don Bosco –Okhla (Delhi Province) by his brother who was a pupil of the technical institute of Don Bosco Okhla – Delhi.

Sixteen priests (Diocesan and religious) walked up the aisle together with Rt. Rev. Bishop Ignatius Menezes (Bishop of Ajmer) along with Deacon Edward Sacrawat who was accompanied by his parents Simon & Teresa, at 10.00 am to a carefully planned and executed liturgy by the parish council wherein the first Salesian priest of the parish was ordained before an enthusiastic assembly of faithful.

The Salesian mission as an initiative of the Mumbai Province began in Suket only in 2002 but obviously Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco reached there much earlier and already won over the hearts of people of Mikhelpura!

Long live Mary Help of Christians!  Long live Don Bosco!
