BIS #2256 DON BOSCO FEAST DAY

NERUL, FEBRUARY 3, 2011: The Feast of Don Bosco was celebrated on January 31, 2011 to commemorate Don Bosco’s hundred and twenty third death anniversary. The catholic students attended mass. A prayer service was held in the assembly hall for students and staff members of other faiths. This was followed by a special programme which began with a prayer dance and lighting of the lamp. The Salesian Sisters from Khoparkairane also attended the programme. Sr. Cherian and Mrs. Lourdes gave out prizes to the winners of the Don Bosco Quiz Competition which was held on January 24 and the Puzzle Competition held on January 25.

Father Vivian instructed the students about how the relics of St. John Bosco are making a pilgrimage around the world and the need to prepare for the celebration of the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco in 2015.

Students of the pre-primary section then presented an action song. Some of the students of the primary section performed a skit “DON BOSCO- A MAN OF ALL TIMES” which was a humble homage to the great saint who spent his life for the poor boys.

A short movie was also showcased on the life and vision of Don Bosco. Students of Class III and IV presented an action song where they promised Don Bosco that they would live his dream today. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Fr. Anthony. All the students received chocolates after which they returned home enlightened and inspired by the vision and teachings of Don Bosco, Friend of the Youth.
