Loreen Fernandes
VIRAR, MARCH 16, 2011: The newly-elected community leaders and the cluster leaders of the thirteen communities of Resurrection Church, Virar (E), attended a training programme on March 13, 2011 from 9 am - 11 am in the church hall.
The first session was conducted by the Parish SCC coordinator and the representative to the Diocese, Mr. Reynold Serrao. The session consisted of a briefing on how the seven-step gospel sharing method had to be made more meaningful and participative, with the facilitator ensuring a reverential atmosphere, wherein language barriers are transcended by unity of faith. The task undertaken by the community members should be related to the specific needs of the community. Guidelines were provided regarding filling up of the monthly reports.

Fr. Augustine Pereira stressed the pivotal role of the word of God in the seven-step method. He went on to explain how the gospel passage should be used for the spiritual growth of each individual and the community at large. Fr. Blany then had a brief inter-active session on the role and responsibilities of the community leaders' vis-à-vis the cluster leaders.

At the conclusion of the session, the leaders left feeling better equipped to animate their communities and clusters.
