DIYVADAAN, MARCH 21, 2011: The Scout masters’ basic training camp for the brothers of the first year was held at Divyadaan: Salesian Institute of Philosophy from the March 11 - March 17, 2011. The Scout camp commenced with the arrival of Mr. K.R. Patil, the chief trainer for the course. He introduced the brothers to the importance of the scout movement in these prevalent times.
On the first day itself the brothers were divided into the patrol system with each patrol consisting of seven members each. There were different sessions on scouting and these were conducted by different trainers. The sessions helped the brothers to come to a know-how of the scout movement. Important things like the prayer song, flag song, scout law, scout promise, knotting and lashing etc. were introduced during these sessions. One activity that was very helpful for the brothers was the daily morning yoga exercises which added energy and liveliness to the camp.
The brothers were invested as official scout masters on the evening of March 16. On the last day the brothers were introduced to an All Faith Prayer Meet which led each scout master into a meditative mood. The camp ended with a small felicitation programme in which the trainers were thanked by Rev. Fr. Felix in a very special way for having made this scout camp a possibility. Mr. K.R Patil along with the other scout masters brought the camp to a conclusion by lowering the scout flag and congratulating the brothers for their hard work and cooperation.
These days of the scout camp were days of fun, frolic and enjoyment. The newly invested scout masters felt that the scout camp was really enriching, adventurous and inspiring which left an indelible mark in the hearts of one and all
