BIS #2343 NSS WEBSITE FOR MAHARASHTRA LAUNCHED

CHURCHGATE, MARCH 24, 2011: The National Service Scheme (NSS) state level Awards Ceremony for the year 2009-2010 was held on March 21, 2011 at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium, Sydenham College, Churchgate, Mumbai.

The high-profile guests included Mr. Rajesh Tope, Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Madhav S. Jambhule, Assistant Programme Advisor, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GOI, Mr. Mahesh Pathak, IAS Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, GOM and Dr. Pramod N. Pabrekar, State Liaison Officer & Officer on Special Duty, NSS Cell.

The dignitaries participated in the traditional lighting of the lamp. The welcome and inaugural speech was given by Prof. Atul Salunke, NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Mumbai) and Dr. Pramod Pabrekar respectively.
The highlight of the event was the launch of the NSS Website (www.mahanss.org) designed and developed by the NSS volunteers of Don Bosco Institute of Technology (DBIT), Kurla. The website was launched by Mr. Rajesh Tope and Mr. Madhav S. Jambhule. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Conrad Saldanha, Principal Advisor, Don Bosco Centre for Learning and Prof. Imran Mirza, HOD - Comp. Sc. Dept. As happens with any new development, the Guests and NSS Program Coordinators from different universities were eager to know the features as well as the user-friendliness of the site.
The DBIT NSS student volunteers Ms. Pinki Kumari, Mr. Allan Pinto and Mr. Raj Saxena under the overall guidance of Mr. Royal D'Souza, NSS Programme Officer, DBIT were instrumental in ensuring that the website had content as well as ease of operation. Students from various universities were honored with a memento for their dedicated service towards the NSS cause.
