BIS #2528 ENGLISH SPEAKING COURSE IN DON BOSCO SAVEDI

AHMEDNAGAR, AUGUST 17, 2011: An Intensive English speaking course for the parishioners of Don Bosco Parish Savedi, Ahmednagar was organized by their newly installed Parish Priest, Fr. Augustine Pereira. Sixty parishioners in all attended this English speaking course.

What motivates this sudden desire to learn English, the feared language? Three batches attend classes at different parts of the day and spend time mastering the nuances of English. The first batch enters class early morning. The second batch of married people attend the class at 12.a.m. and the last batch attends at 3.30 p,m. all in the hope of securing a decent job, salary and employment.  “Without English there is no hope for us” feel most of them.  This challenges them to accept the global language of English as a passport to a prosperous life and future. They feel grateful to Fr. Pereira, M.A in English Literature for spending three hours of this precious time with them. The importance of English as a language cannot be underestimated in this far flung corner of the Province of Bombay. In four months, it is promised that all of them will be comfortable with the language, or at least know how to use the Dictionary, how to use the Grammar Book and how to do compositions be it  letter or essay and guide themselves to a growth giving familiarity of what English is all about.

Keep up the good work, Fr. Pereira!!! All the best!!!
