LONAVALA, OCTOBER 3, 2011: Fr. Lorenzo D'Souza, the Principal of Don Bosco Lonavala was awarded , ' The Best Educationist Award', for outstanding achievements in the field of education by the International Institute of Education and Management, New Delhi and the 'Rashtriya Vidya Gaurav Gold Medal Award' from the 'Indian Solidarity Council, New Delhi on September 28, 2011.
The International Institute of Education and Management and the Indian Solidarity Council, New Delhi conducted a seminar on Education and Economic Growth and also presented awards to distinguished Educationists.
Dr. Bishwa Narayan Singh Former Union Minister and Governor of Tamil Nadu and the North Eastern States, Dr. G.V.G. Krishnamurthy Former Election Commissioner, Mr. Joginder Singh Ex C.B.I. Director, Justice O.P. Verma, Former Governor of Punjab and Mr. Oscar Fernandes Member of Parliament were the distinguished guests of Honour. All of them in their speeches highlighted the sustained economic growth of our country and the disparity in the education system. While India is a strong developing force, we are lagging behind in education. Poverty, illiteracy and corruption are our main weaknesses. Yet when Indra Gandhi asked Rakesh Sharma how India looks like form space, he said "Sare Jahan se Aacha, Hindustan Hamara". Let's focus on our strengths and on our results. There were around seventy five educationists from all over India, of whom 10 were priests and nuns.
Fr. D'Souza was one of the selected few to receive the award in New Delhi. Keeping to the motto for the Golden Jubilee celebrations, 'Grow in wisdom and Love' this is definitely a growing step in wisdom which will lead to growth in love.
