NARUKOT, OCTOBER 13, 2011: In the early hours of the morning, the parishioners, School and Technical Boarders of Don Bosco Narukot were blessed to witness the impressive ceremony of Mr. Isudas and Mrs. Pushpa who were to take their promises as Salesian Cooperators. The ceremony took place with the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration. Fr. Michael Fernandes, Provincial of the Mumbai Province was the main celebrant.
In his homily, Fr. Provincial mentioned, "To be a Cooperator means to serve the marginalized without any payment". He also shared that this was Don Bosco's wish; to involve lay people as part of our vast Salesian Family as his extended arms. It was a great moment for Isudas and Pushpa. They are happy to be Salesian Cooperators and part of the big Family.
The Salesian Cooperators help in organizing all the important feasts in the year namely: Parish feast (Sacred Heart of Jesus), Feast of Assumption, Christmas, Feast of St. John Bosco, the Way of the Cross and prayer services in the Lenten Season. They arrange retreats and adoration for cooperators, help woman from the villages to form Mahila mandals, SHG (self help Groups), give guidance to the Youth in the villages, cook for the boys on the feast days, run seven oratories in seven government boarding schools on Sundays etc.
At the end, Fr. Stanny the Parish Priest, and delegates of the Salesian Cooperators' movement expressed their gratitude to Isudas and Pushpa and invited others to take their example and join this movement to continue Don Bosco's mission with the young.
