BORIVLI, OCTOBER 21, 2011: It must indeed be very hectic for our dear Provincial Rev. Fr. Micheal Fernanades, as he moves around in different Salesian institutes for his official pastoral visitation.
One such visitation happens to be here at Don Bosco High School, Borivli. The students from standard V-VIII gathered in the school hall to welcome Fr. Fernandes. The primary boys welcomed Fr. Fernandes with a beautiful song. A short programme highlighting the various events conducted in the school was put up by the teachers of the secondary section. Though the students are in the midst of their terminal exams, they were present in large numbers to greet the Provincial. In his address to the boys, the Provincial emphasized the importance of the attitude, "Never give up" or "keep trying".
Later in the day, he also addressed the teaching and non- teaching staff of the school. This time he shared with them the six important traits of being a successful teacher.
If time could stop, we would request Fr. Fernandes to continue. But alas, his visit was a short one and he had many meetings lined up. On a beautiful thanksgiving note the assembly dispersed, but not before taking an assurance from the Provincial of another informal visit to the school.
On behalf of the entire Salesian family, I wish to pray to the Almighty to shower his special blessings on our Provincial, that he may wisely be able to carry on the duties entrusted to him and that he be successful in carrying Don Bosco's dream forward.
