GUJARAT, OCTOBER 24, 2011: A two day camp was conducted for thirteen dynamic youngsters of Don Bosco, Kapadvanj, Gujarat from October 22-24, 2011. The teens were all geared up for this event and a majority of them were not new to this exposure.
On October 23 the morning Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Mayank Parmar. In his homily, Fr. Parmar mentioned that each one of us is a missionary and we are called to go out and spread God's mission in the world. An interactive session was taken for the campers on the 'Use and misuse of electronic gadgets.' The session focused on the dangers involved in misusing the latest equipments available at one's disposal. The group building exercise that was conducted focused on the importance of team spirit. The focal point of the exercise was to draw out the message that with different mindsets and temperaments a group can progress provided the members work with a cooperative spirit. Fr. Parmar took a conference for the boys on the theme – 'Who is Jesus for me?'. In his conference, Fr. Parmar asked the boys what personal image they have of Jesus. At the end of the session the boys were given a handout that comprised of some reflective questions on the theme.
In the evening, an entertainment program was organized for the youngsters that consisted of songs, dance, relays and lively games. The camp culminated on October 24 with the Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Isaac Aracaparambil. In his homily, Fr. Aracaparambil stressed on making Christ our light. He emphasized that with the presence of Christ, the darkness prevalent in one's life disappears. All in all, one could say that the seeds of vocation have been sown in the hearts of some of the campers.
