DIVYADAAN, NOVEMBER 28, 2011: No less than a day after the cricket fever left Wankhade, (Mumbai), Nashik witnessed a spectacular performance of the young cricketers of nine teams of the city oratories at Divyadaan. This annual event began with a prayer song emphasizing on the theme 'Light of God leading the youth' especially as Nashik celebrates the centenary of Shri. Kusumagraj. The day was the greatest showdown of the game of cricket with the talented men on the ground. The passion for the game and true sportsmanship were very evident on the ground. For certain, it was an occasion for the youth of these nine teams to grow in the company of one another besides playing energetically for their teams.
The final match was held between Kasturba Nagar and Siddharth Hotel. Kasturba Nagar beat Siddharth Hotel by forty nine runs and lifted the cup for the first time. It was wonderful to see all the participants of the tournament remain till the end to encourage the other teams. Mr. Shivajirao Trambak Gangurde, Corporator of Nashik Municipal Corporation, was the chief guest of the day. The winning team and the participants of the tournament were honoured by the chief guest of the tournament Mr. Shivajirao Trambak Gangurde and also by the Salesians of Divyadaan. In his message to the participants of the tournament Mr. Shivajirao Trambak Gangurde said that in games and work one should be disciplined and honest so that one will become a good citizen of the country. He was appreciative of the initiatives of Divyadaan. Any one who witnessed the game of these young men would say that India does not lack fine cricketers for a decade or more so.
The tournament had players who recalled nostalgic memories of them coming to Divyadaan for this Annual Cricket Tournament for the past decade. The brothers put in a lot of hard work and sacrifice to prepare for this event. Truly it was a day of running, jumping, playing but no sinning! Viva Don Bosco!
