Cl. Justus Mendis
DAKOR, DECEMBER 10, 2011: "Celebrating your commitment", these words were heard on the lips of every individual in Dakor campus, as they rejoiced in the happiness of the Jubilarians. On December 6, Don Bosco Dakor celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Fr. Alex Fernandes, the Rector (twenty five years of his Ordination) and Fr. Ignas Macwan, the Principal (twenty five years of his First Holy Profession), mainly for the Salesians of Gujarat region.
Many Salesians came to partake in the jubilee celebration. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Alex Fernandes which was concelebrated by Fr. Ignas and Fr. Ivan, the delegate for the Gujarat region. Fr. Ignas gave an inspirational homily on the importance of vows and the need of vocation for priesthood, in today's society.
After the Eucharist, the Jubilarians cut the cake and a small felicitation programme began with prayer dance, mini musical by Cl. Justus titled 'Priest- the need of today's society', a short video on their works and a song by juniors etc. The addresses beautifully envisaged the whole persona of the jubilarians in its own charm. In their talk, they thanked all the Salesians for their brotherly love, neighbouring communities for their support and their own boys and the community for the hard work done. Fr. Henry Fernandes gave the vote of thanks in which he thanked God, Don Bosco and every individual who made the day special for the Jubilarians.
All the Salesians shared a warm meal. They departed to their own houses thanking God for the gift of Fr. Alex and Fr. Ignas whispering the wish "Celebrating your Commitment".
